5 Last Minute Methods to be Ready for Homeschool this year

    August 5, 2018 /

Are you ready for homeschool? If you’re anything like me, summer lasted about five minutes and all of a sudden, it was back to school. And I was not ready. Wasn’t it just last week I had such grand plans for all I would accomplish this summer? I’ve barely started my summer projects, but tomorrow we head back to the classroom or our dining room (depending on the time of day). It’s the night before back to (home)school. What can you do NOW to be ready for homeschool this year? First, begin with God. Pray for your home and family as you transition back to essentially an unpaid, full-time job. Pray…

What Every Christian should know about Voice of the Martyrs

    August 2, 2018 /

What should you know about Voice of the Martyrs?  I had heard of Voice of the Martyrs, but had never really gotten involved. Even though I donated and joined their mailing list, I hadn’t taken real steps to personally be involved in their ministry, but that changed when I realized that their ministry is the entire body of believers. If you let it, VOM might change your faith forever. I hope you’ll read how it changed mine.  Voice of the Martyrs unites the global body of Christ. We…

Community Matters when there are Sharks in the Water!

    July 16, 2018 /

Community matters for many reasons, but this week, I saw firsthand the importance of community during our beach vacation. We woke up early, packed our stuff and selves into the van, and drove to Florida. We really enjoy this one military beach because we’re always reminded that being part of the military community matters. There’s a sense of camaraderie between military families. Our kids make instant friends. We might belong to different branches, but we’re all part of the same brotherhood. Conversations are easy about our shared experiences as military families, and we watch out for each other. By the time we finished the long drive, carried all the food,…

What so Captures our Imagination in a Princess Story?

    May 19, 2018 /

What is is about a princess story that so captures our imagination? Have you been following all the media buzz this week over the royal wedding? Did you get up early to watch it? (Heaven not Harvard is as a participant in affiliate programs including the Amazon Associates Program. As an affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.) I have to admit, I did not watch it live. I haven’t slept-in for weeks and took advantage of a cloudy morning to sleep all the way until 8:45! Scandalous. But the coverage has been everywhere. People have been preparing viewing parties for months. As royal wedding coverage overtook every outlet, I began…

    March 30, 2018 /

Are you searching for ways to center your heart on praise and worship this holy weekend? These worship songs for Easter weekend are filling my home today. Taking a few minutes (or more) to get your heart focused on the meaning of this weekend is especially important. As a mom, holidays sometimes sneak up on me despite all sorts of mental notes not to let them. I find myself often racing through the things I have to do for the celebrations, and I don’t get to take the time to be still in Him. Today, a few songs have been just echoing in my heart and head as I’ve been…
