4 Ways Christians Can Observe Ramadan with a Missions Mindset

    May 8, 2019 /

Christians can observe Ramadan? You might ask why Christians would observe the Islamic month of Ramadan at all. Because Jesus entrusted us with a mission for those who do not know Him. Matthew 28:19 ESV Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” And Muslims are the largest group of unreached people in the world. According to Alan Shlemon in The Ambassador’s Guide to Islam, approximately 27,000 die each day without a saving knowledge of Christ. Seeing that number made those lives more tangible to me and broke my heart for them. Most Muslims want…

Finding your Brave – Year 8

    May 7, 2019 /

“Finding your Brave” is my daughter’s 8th birthday letter. I’m so incredibly proud of the year my daughter was 7-8. I watched her grow in many unexpected ways. Dear Sweet Girl, Turning 8 was the year of finding your brave! I loved watching you turn seven, my kite girl. I loved watching you become this new version of yourself, stretching out and learning to soar. Seven was glorious. I really didn’t want it to end. Yet, I feel that way every year, and every year you amaze me even more, and I think, no, this, this is the year I want to freeze her. But the truth is, even if…

Why Jesus washed the feet of Judas

    April 28, 2019 /

Have you ever wondered why Jesus washed the feet of Judas? It’s always been part of the story, but sometimes, we don’t pay attention to the details when we’re so familiar with a story. But this year, I really stopped to consider why the evening unfolded the way it did. As I was reflecting on rejection and Christ’s work on the cross, I read the four gospel accounts of the last supper and betrayal: Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, John 13. While I really appreciate the style and perspective of all four gospels, John is especially beautiful. John writes more lyrically and emotionally, which speaks to my heart, but…

    Yes! You can Homeschool Bravely!

    April 2, 2019 /

Yes, you can Homeschool bravely! Maybe your thought is Not me, I’m not a teacher. How could I possibly homeschool at all, much less bravely??? But I really want to assure you, you can homeschool. Homeschooling your children is a journey of growing together as a family and growing as an educator. You don’t have to have it all figured out on day one. You learned parenting as your child grew. Learning how to teach is a process too. As the work gets more challenging, you’ll get better at it, I promise. I remember being nervous about homeschooling. Even as a former high school teacher (17 years in the classroom),…

Unplanned is the Movie We All Need to See

    March 29, 2019 /

Unplanned is an incredibly important movie. I went in agreeing with everything the films stands for, and STILL left changed. It wasn’t an easy film to decide to watch in the theater. And yet, here I am begging you to go see it anyway. Even if you’re already pro-life. Even if you don’t think you can see such a heavy movie. And even if you have to take a fist full of tissues and wear waterproof mascara, go see it!  This movie is hard to watch in some places. While a typical action movie with an R rating is much more violent, the difficult scenes are so raw and powerful…
