Spinning Top Mom: I can’t do it all

    August 27, 2015 /

It’s time to come clean. I can’t do it all. When I try, I feel like a spinning top, twirling out of control. I can’t do it all, and I quit trying. Are you a Spinning Top Mom? Trying to “do it all”? Over mugs of coffee, we’ll all nod in agreement, “of course, we can’t do it all.” But secretly, I always think, ‘but I could be doing this better, why can’t I do what that mom does? I’m a total failure at this.’ And, even though we know Pinterest is a liar, we’ll still use that measuring stick to beat ourselves over all the things we can’t do.…

Scrambling to make something great with leftovers? This delicious Blueberry Muffin Bread Pudding recipe solved my crisis with empty plates in record time. Some days, dragging myself out of bed is hard enough, much less trying to find something more creative than cereal to feed my kiddos. I was really excited when my brainstorm blueberry muffin bread pudding recipe was a hit! (this site uses Affiliate links-purchases support our ministry through a small referral fee that never affects your cost.) One morning, I had a rare occurrence – leftover muffins. They had gotten stuck in a container and hidden WAY in the back of the fridge. You know the kind…

    Crashing into Reality

    July 27, 2015 /

Don’t you just love vacations? We get to cast our cares aside, just be present in the moment with our family. We know it ends, crashing into reality, but we hold onto vacation as long as we can. This year we were blessed by a decadent beach getaway with my in-laws. We had this tremendous view everyday from the covered porch. Packing clothes was a waste of time. We spent 90% of the time in swimsuits, damp and sun-baked, but we loved every second. Even bad weather was more exciting. Our family spent an afternoon watching water spouts, but happily they just hovered on the horizon, far away, nothing to…

    Christians Can’t Swear

    July 20, 2015 /

“I love Jesus, but I still swear sometimes,” she said. Somehow hearing that out loud didn’t sit well with me. I mean the Bible says not to take the Lord’s name in vain, but there isn’t a list of forbidden words. Who says what is okay and what isn’t? Who says Christians can’t swear? The Holy Spirit convicted me on this point. Confronting my own mouth, I felt compelled to do some digging around in the scriptures. It didn’t take long for me to realize that Christians can’t swear. Here are the proof texts I found to hold myself accountable. First, the importance of ALL of our speech in our…

    Celebrating the Days of Summer

    July 16, 2015 /

Looking for ways to make summer fun without breaking the bank? Us too, all the time! Even an outing to the movies can cost upwards of $100 with a family of five for all the bells and whistles, never mind the cost of an amusement park or out-of-town vacation. Our income dropped in half when we moved here and decided I would stay home. We had to find different ways to make the summer days fun for our family without spending a small fortune. Food seems to be the center of many family celebrations, so when I came across this idea, I knew I’d found a winner. We are celebrating…
