My Father’s Day Gift Guide for Budget Minded Mamas
I’m sharing my Father’s day gift guide. Really, I was just shopping but found some great things, so I wanted to share!
My husband has been so great to me during some really difficult years. I really want him to know I see him: the hours, the hard work, the little things he does without fanfare or expecting thanks. Yet, I need to be frugal while showing my husband I appreciate him. So, all these gifts are under $40 and most are $25 or less!
One way I show my appreciation is by paying attention to little things he needs. On a regular basis, I replace his socks, toothpaste, and favorite hot sauce. But for a Father’s Day gift, I want him to know how much we appreciate him by making his day to day life easier.
Just this week, he was scrounging through the garage looking for the right size drill bit for some project. I could hear his grumbling from the garage. I can’t always be physically helpful, but this universal drill and screw tool might save him so much frustration.
My husband LOVES to grill and BBQ. You know you live in the South when these are two entirely separate activities! He has a gas grill, a charcoal grill that he uses for slow barbecuing, and a smoker.

Maintaining the proper temperature is important when you invest 12-24 hours into dinner! This one has wireless probes that send a signal to your handheld remote. No more going in and out of the house a thousand times to check the grill temp. I’m already looking forward to our next hog roast!
And having the right tools for the job is paramount – plus it keeps him from using my good kitchen utensils at the grill! 😉 Here are some sets have the tools he needs without taking up too much storage space or have their own case plus a few more accessories that the BBQ guy needs to celebrate Father’s Day in hog heaven!
My husband is a talented amateur chef. In fact, he could be a professional, so we’ve bought some high quality chef knives. However, they are TOUGH to keep sharp because the blades are such hard steel.
Is your husband or father a talented chef?
He is always complaining that his sharpeners aren’t enough to keep the edges on the blades crisp. Just Friday night at our fish fry, he was complaining about using our cheap knives because they sharpen more easily. He was especially frustrated by the filet knife that he wishes he could use. But getting to a professional sharpener isn’t always possible, so I looked for one that would be harder than his knives. This one has been exceptional in the two years we’ve had it!
The knife sharpener has a diamond coated sharpening wheel that should keep even our serrated knives sharp. With a 100% no questions asked, money back guarantee, for under $25, this is an easy Father’s Day gift. I really want him to enjoy those quality knives.
Gifts aren't the most important ways to say I love you, but just the right thing is fun. Click To TweetOf course, REALLY sharp knives have led to a few trips to the ER in our house. He uses sharp knives to filet fish and butcher deer. This is his current favorite fillet knife.
He needs his knives to be extra sharp, but also needs all his fingers. I got him a pair of cut resistant gloves for his birthday earlier this year. And heat resistant ones for grilling are a must! What is it about men that they don’t remember fire is hot and knives are sharp?
He LOVES them. He hasn’t cut himself once wearing them. And can use them while working with other sharp objects as well. These have saved his fingers several times already.
Want to show support for his faith?
Maybe your husband needs some new t-shirts and likes to wear his faith! Christian Strong has some great styles (and cute things for you, too).
Or he might be an intellectual and enjoy books that deepen his faith. There are many to choose from, but one that I really would suggest to any husband or father is The End Of Me by Kyle Idleman. You can read my entire review, but I LOVED this book. I really had to decide what kind of Christ follower I am and be willing to see past me. Plus, all Kyle Idleman’s books are great sources of Biblical wisdom written in witty guy speak which might really speak to your guy!
I love this journal! I bought it to use as a prayer journal for my husband, but any guy would be proud to carry this to church or conferences. Or even to use for his daily devotions! It’s well-made and under $10!
We don’t usually spend a lot of money on gifts. We prefer to save for things together. And sometimes living on one salary means we make sacrifices.
When nothing store bought will do . . . .

I am convinced you can never go wrong with anything for the grill! Great list
Jennifer
True! Thanks.

What a great list! I usually do a steak dinner for him, the kids make a craft and we get him a small gift. I am loving the diamond coated knife sharpener. He loves knives and that sounds pretty awesome and he would definitely use it!
Jennifer
It does! I can’t wait to see how my husband likes it.

One can never go wrong with Amazon – or with cooking dinner for their dads (husbands)

I love the cut-resistant gloves. I would probably use them too! And your comment about keeping him away from your good kitchen utensils made me laugh. Just went through that this past Memorial Day when my husband was getting ready to grill but couldn’t find some of his grilling tools, and he was looking through the kitchen drawers for some substitutes. 🙂
Jennifer
Ha ha. They always scrounge through our drawers.

Thanks for sharing these fabulous ideas! I love seeing women looking for ways to honor their husbands on Father’s Day as well as every day of the year! I love that you pay attention to the things your hubby says and tuck it away for later. What a great heart for a wife to have! 👍🏼
Jennifer
Aww, thanks!

My kids have been making Father’s Day presents this week. My oldest daughter wrote a long poem for him and then couldn’t wait to give it to him – lol! So yesterday she decided to make him a picture frame….we will see if she can hold out until Father’s Day to give it to him!
Jennifer
Homemade gifts are great!!

Jen,
These are great ideas and I have to say my Hubs is a great chef! I’m more of the homestyle cook, but he is all about the presentation and infusion of flavors. I loved your post and how you set it up! Those gloves look like a great idea! I may have to tell the kids about those. I love the DEAL with him! Sometimes, I am focused too much on the task and not him. Thanks for the reminder! Blessings to you!

We watch so many cooking shows that my daughter critiques dinner every night. “Oh I just love your grill marks!” So funny. She’s 7!

My husband’s to-do list only includes things that are not possible for me to do, so I wouldn’t be able to do them. I like your choices for man gifts!
Jennifer
I understand. I can’t do them all either, but I can refill his vitamins, get his coffee ready, do his laundry – some of the little things that he normally does for himself and just take it off his list. Or instead of a gift, pay someone to come do the handyman things for him if he would appreciate the rest more than a gift.
Erin
First off, kudos for not just wanting to buy him a tie but wanting to show him you love and appreciate him. Second off, great list. These are things most any husband/father would love to get!
Jennifer
Thank you! I hope he enjoys them. We have some Amazon packages coming this week!
Terri
I always struggle with buying for hubby. He goes out and gets anything he needs or wants.
Jennifer
I know! We are so blessed to be able to do that. That is why I try to be sneaky and see what drives him crazy and solve it b
