Do I have to go to church to be a Christian?

    June 8, 2019 /

Do I HAVE to go to church to be a Christian? The weekend is finally here, but instead of resting, I hop on my to-do list and finish Saturday feeling accomplished and exhausted. But, as I set my alarm for the morning, sometimes, I’m tempted not to rise and shine. Can’t I give God the glory, glory from home? Is worshipping from home a legitimate choice? Am I still a Christian if I don’t go to church? Going to church is not a part of salvation. When we add requirements to salvation or Christianity that Jesus did not, we add burdens and weights to the light yoke of Jesus. “Going…

How God is Building my Faith Through the Storms of Life

    March 18, 2018 /

Building my faith hasn’t come from the smooth seas in my life. I wish I learned things the easy way, but that has never been true for me. Not when I learned that gravity was a pretty consistent fact of life no matter how fast I ran before jumping off the top of the stairs. Sigh. And I didn’t learn from the easy times when it came to growing my faith either. Drop EVERYTHING – You need to see “I Can Only Imagine”

    March 16, 2018 /

I Can Only Imagine is so incredible! Seriously, drop everything. Get a sitter. Go see this tonight (if it’s not already sold out)! I love Mercy Me’s song I Can Only Imagine, but never really gave much thought to the story behind it. When I’m worshipping God, I try to focus on glorifying Him and just being in the moment with my Lord. However, there are stories behind every song, even the ones scribbled in my own poetry journals. Convicted & Inspired to have a Childlike Faith

    September 25, 2017 /

Have you ever wondered what have a childlike faith means? (Heaven not Harvard is a participant in affiliate programs including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.) Jesus taught some pretty serious lessons regarding children in the gospels, lessons about how precious children really are in His sight, and how the angels of children always have His Father’s ear. One of the most simply stated and most challenging was to have a childlike faith and be like the children. Matthew 18:3 ESV And said, “Truly, I say to you, unless…

How to Handle Conflict as Christian Women

    September 1, 2017 /

How we handle conflict as Christian women is so important because conflict can destroy the body of Christ and our witness if we don’t handle it well. For a group of people who are supposed to be known by our love and unity, we don’t do conflict well. It’s taken a lot of spiritual growth for me to learn better how to handle conflict. John 17:21 ESV That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. Learning how to live in this kind of unity…
