    Purposefully Practical #1

    August 13, 2014 /

I am trying to be honestly transparent in my posts, making sure every word is Godly and Biblical. But as I have been working on my parenting, I realized that a lesson about anger and temper is a wonderful tool to help our walk become more Godly; however, some practical tips may be more helpful at times. Like when your child is smearing her somehow naked body with soap in front of the sink when all you asked was for her to wash her hands. . . those are the moments I need real answers about how to parent without getting angry. I wrote about Temper Tantrums just a couple…

Our Jar: Sanctification of our lives

    August 5, 2014 /

Sanctification is a beautiful process of how God cleans up the mess we’ve made of our lives, if we let him change what we pour into our lives. Watch this wonderful illustration about how prayer changes darkness in our lives when we open the gates wide and pray. What a moving illustration about how God is pouring His light into us as we pray, changing our perspective in even the darkest circumstances. Lately, I’ve had one issue weighing on my heart, sanctification: being transformed into holy beings. The challenge of sin and accountability in the modern body of believers is difficult because we have to balance love with obedience to…

Quit Comparing: Running The Race Set Before Us

    August 2, 2014 /

Comparison is a sin we all struggle with, but it’s especially insidious when we’re comparing our spiritual walk to the journey of someone else. We need to run the race God has set before us. Not compare our beginning to another’s finish line. (this site uses Affiliate links-purchases support our ministry through a small referral fee that never affects your cost.) Why Should You Stop Throwing Temper Tantrums

    July 28, 2014 /

Why should I stop throwing temper tantrums? As parents, those generally aren’t the tantrums we think about. But over the past few years, I have grown increasingly convicted about my anger, especially towards my daughter. And one verse today just wrecked me. And I want to come to you from that place right now: not a place of having conquered, but still conquering, sometimes still failing. But I see God’s work in my heart as I grow more and more. My temper tantrums were damaging my family. Yours are too. God has called us to control our temper tantrums now. I’ve been trying to rewrite this post for days, but…

The Experiment that Made God’s Love Real to Me

    July 22, 2014 /

A science experiment made God’s love real to me at my daughter’s fourth birthday party in an object lesson I never forgot. My daughter had a science themed birthday party when she turned four. I was searching for a cute gender neutral party theme, and thought science experiments would be something different and extra fun. All the kids wore labs coats and colorful safety glasses. They blew touchable bubbles from test tubes, and we performed several easy experiments. We covered the lawn with Mentos and Diet Coke, the kitchen with vinegar and baking soda. The party was a blast. One of everyone’s favorites was the packing peanuts experiment. I took…
