    Swimming Lessons

    July 14, 2014 /

“Mommy is right here. You know I won’t let you get hurt, right?” “Right . . .” Tiny arm wraps around my neck, clutching me in a death grip. “You know that I will be here the whole time, right?” “Right . . .” Little fingers clutch at my hair. “You’re going to have to trust me.” “But I don’t trust you!” she wailed at a paint peeling decibel. I’m sure the neighbors were quite certain I was committing various acts of torture instead of just trying to get my child to float in the pool with her life jacket on. This is the child I have doted on since…

What is so captivating about a princess story? We grow up imagining living the fairy tale dream, but often we forget what it means to be a daughter of the king.

It isn’t the rule that matters

    June 18, 2014 /

Today, my daughter needed to tell me something while I was in the bathroom. We’ve instituted a rule that if the door to the bathroom is closed, she is to knock before entering and/or wait, unless she has an emergency or something is really important. She’s four, so we give her some latitude with what she considers important (i.e. her brother holding a toad in the living room), but today she by-passed three closed doors to get to me. Opening all of them without knocking. So far she has only done this with me, but the rule is partially in place to avoid her walking in on her father or…

Contending for your children's faith can sound daunting. As a Christian parent, there is no 100% way to parent that brings kids to Jesus, but there are things we can do to give them a firm foundation. #Apologetics #ChristianParenting #ChristianMom #ChristianBlogger #Parenting #MamaBearApologetics #RoarLikeaMother

    Watch Me, Daddy!

    June 16, 2014 /

This entry will post a day after Father’s Day because having just posted a long entry on Saturday, I hadn’t prepared an entry about Father’s Day. I only write posts when God prods my heart, and despite not planning on writing today, I spent quite a bit of the day being emotional. I prayed a lot for comfort today. My father-in-law passed away a few years ago and the last time we saw him was Father’s Day when my daughter was just born, so Father’s Day is hard for my husband in a way that I can only imagine even though I grieve for him as well. We knew he…

    Let’s get intentional, intentional!

    June 4, 2014 /

“Intentional, intentional. I want to be intentional about my love for you, Lord. Intentional, intentional, I wanna get intentional in my home for you, Lord. Let me show you my Godly walk, let me show you my Godly talk. Intentional, I wanna get intentional.” If you didn’t just have a horrible 80’s flashback of Olivia Newton John’s ‘Physical’, I am sorry. Your life must have taken some horrible turn or you are simply too young to appreciate the power of 80’s music. You may also have missed the memo about my super power – taking random songs and making up words to fit any scenario. I am the Weird Al…

    Be careful little tongue

    May 20, 2014 /

Washing the dishes this morning, I accidentally sliced my finger on a rough edge of a pitcher lid. I groaned. Speaking from experience, a deep, bleeding gash on my fingers or hands is about the worst for a mom. For the next few days, I am going to have to think about every time I go to wash something or wash my hands. As a mom, this means pretty much every chore is going to require planning so I don’t use my weight in band-aids. ‘I am going to have to be intentional about how I use my hands,’ I thought. Then I felt that God-nudge, the way He usually…
